And just like that, 2023 comes to an end. 2023 was a year for reflections, boundaries, and continuing adventures. Here are the highlights.
Best Decision
Very early into the year, I made the decision to move into my own apartment. Without getting too far in the weeds, I found myself in a living situation that was much more harmful than healthy. Phoebe and I moving back into a space of our own was hands down the best decision of 2023.
It’s become more and more homey over the months, decorating on a budget, of course. I’m very proud of the safe space I’ve created for myself and am fortunate to keep my door open to my friends in need.
Guests
I was so fortunate to host several guests this year, including my college bestie Abby, mom, grandma, brother and sister-in-law, and local friends. It means the world to me when people visit and I get to show them my favorite spots around Columbia and South Carolina. I was especially fortunate to host my first Thanksgiving, making new traditions this year.
Destinations
2023 was another year of adventures. I was fortunate enough to visit…
- Nashville in January
- Conway/Myrtle in April
- Montana in July
- Sarasota in September
- Atlanta in December
- Savannah, every opportunity I had…
Top Events
- My brother getting married.
- Seeing Gary Allen in concert – can’t find a feeling like that. <– Get it?
- Spending as much time at the beach as I could.
- Visiting one of my oldest friends in Florida.
- Learning my enneagram – this was my whole personality for the month of August.
New Experiences
- I discovered hypnotherapy which I highly recommend to anyone who’s on the struggle bus.
- I transitioned into a new role as a Digital Marketing Coordinator.
- I joined a beer league soccer team. I am embarrassed to say I still don’t fully understand the rules, but I had such a good time.
- I took a beekeeping class at my favorite nursery in May which was super interesting.
Recap
2023 was a year of introspection. The year started with a breakup that forced me to look into years of unhealthy patterns. I cut a lot of ties and leaned heavily into my support system which I am so grateful for. I am especially grateful for the memories I was able to make with friends and family this year.
I am so eager to see what’s to come in 2024, knowing what I know now.
