Following the Signs

following the signs

In case you missed it, I just read Signs: The Secret Language of the Universe by Laura Lynne Jackson.

This book had me reflecting on one of the times I was feeling super out of alignment and unhappy, and what led me to make decisions to where I am now.

Circling back to March 2024… I had recently seen/heard that if you’re looking for a sign, just ask for it. And be specific.

222

I hated my job. I had been there 1 year and 8 months and wished I were somewhere else 99% of the time. My coworkers were great, but it was an environment I knew I didn’t belong in.

One day, I had the thought – if I saw 222, it meant it was time to put in my two-week notice.

I looked for it everywhere. That morning at the gym, I kept looking around for anything to say it – I checked my friends’ treadmill – 2.21, then again seconds later, only to see it at 2.24. Just as I’d started to accept that maybe it wasn’t the time, I glanced down at mine and saw 2.22 miles. After formally geeking out and filling my friend in, I checked again, and it was at 44:44 for time. Another silent confirmation.

I felt good heading into work that morning. Sometime in the early afternoon, I started to juggle all the “what ifs” and started to doubt the idea that it was my best time to quit.

I wandered into the break room to get a snack. Upon entering, I noticed there was a birthday card for everyone to sign – the birthday being on 2/22. I went back to my cubicle to check my phone – I had 2 texts, 2 minutes ago, and it was 2:22pm. It could not have been any louder.

I took a deep breath, scooted back in my chair, and put my 222 week notice in.

Horseshoes

It was also at this time that I knew I was ready to leave South Carolina. However, I had no idea where I wanted to go. I knew I wanted to be near friends or family, but I wasn’t sure I was ready for another big move again. My best friends were in Sarasota (7hrs) and Savannah (3 hrs), which both felt like an easy move. However, Texas slowly started making its way on my radar. So I did the only thing that made sense – I gave them all signs and asked for guidance. If I were meant to move to Florida, I would see cocounts. If Georgia, any mention of spirits. And if Texas, I would see a horseshoe.

Similar to the 222 tale, I was on the lookout. A few days went by, and nothing happened. It wasn’t until some random afternoon… I was watching SATC and felt a weird pull to look at Carrie’s classic Carrie necklace – only to find that in this episode she was wearing a horseshoe.

That was all I needed.

Later that week, I was telling my friend about all the things, chatting about astrology, and when she went to look up what we were discussing, it referenced “two horseshoes.”

From then on, it just seemed to show up everywhere. And once Texas was determined, everything just started to fall into place. The move was the easiest it’s been compared to the many others.

The Language of the Universe

Typically, when people ask how I ended up here – starting in Montana, then South Carolina – I typically just give them the “this was more central – great to be by a major airport” spiel.

I feel like people are rarely ready to hear that I put some feelers out in the air and followed what was presented to me to make two of the largest decisions I’ve ever made. But after reading this book, I felt inspired to share. The signs really are everywhere, but I don’t think many people are receptive to seeing them.
