July report 2026 - peaches

Sunburns, road trips, peach season, doggy dental visits… here’s the REPORT.

Reading

Still reading Plato’s The Republic – I take back everything I said last month about reading more in the summer. I got so sunburnt on the 4th that I haven’t been back to the pool since, and my reading time is showing it.

Eating

Two things:

  1. I had the most incredible farm-to-table meal in Asheville, NC at Luminosa. Honestly, all the food there was good, but this meal lives in my head rent-free.10/10 recommend if you find yourself in those parts.
  2. The nacho sombrero at the Texas Rangers game is all the hype right now – and for good reason. The amount of food on those things is crazy. They say it feeds 4, but we could have had at least 2 more people based on how much was left over.

Playing

I got to officiate my second wedding – this time an elopement with two of my best friends in Asheville, NC. We decided to drive and made a little road trip out of it. We had two nights in Nashville, two in Chattanooga, and four in Asheville. Honestly, this trip deserves to be a blog of its own – stay tuned.

Obsession

Sunday plan days.

My current obsession is my new Sunday ritual. Taking 1-2 hours out of my day to outline my goals, meetings, appointments, misc. and set my intentions for the week.

I have a horrible habit of agreeing to things before checking my availability. The “say yes and figure it out later” mentality has maybe gone a little too far. So, it’s helpful for me to be able to visualize my schedule ahead of time to avoid overwhelming myself later on. And, setting the intention for the week gives me a better outlook on what’s ahead.

Recommendation

Walking has been huge for me in the last few years because it’s such a good way to blend my social time with getting my steps, but – and I hate to be this person- the heat has made it much more challenging, so I needed something more.

Orange Theory has been my most recent thing. I signed up for my first class when I was living in Bellevue… in 2019… and just got around to actually scheduling it. In my humble opinion, it’s a little unorganized and can be hard to follow along, but it’s always a good workout. The best part? There are so many locations, which makes it easy to keep up when you’re on the move.

I’d recommend it for anyone who likes to have their workouts planned, but with a little flexibility.

If you’re interested in trying it, tell them Madi sent you. 😉

Treating

Evenings out.

I feel like I’m out and about a lot – often for work, a good bit for play. But July’s outings were so fun and diverse. It was a nice treat of live music, scenic patios, different cuisines, and mixed company. It was such a good change of scenery.
