It’s My Party and I’ll Cry If I Want To

It's My Party

Call me Bad Luck Madi.

February 4, 2020. I tried to pretend I wasn’t sad to be transitioning out of my twenty-fun cocoon and I started my day with a positive, can-do attitude.

And aside from shattering my favorite water bottle in front of a long line of cars, it even started okay. After that, I did some shopping, was surprised with brownies and balloons, and had plans with my friends throughout the day.

Call me crazy, but I only had two things I wanted to accomplish: taking a picture I could caption with “the last 21 years- just gone with the gin” and creating a mediocre painting with my friends. Because it was my birthday, booze were necessary and “Painting with A Twist” was the perfect opportunity to embarrass myself in a large room filled with strangers.

Sounds great, right? Well cut to the good part– it was TEEN TUESDAY. What does that mean, you ask? That even though the whole point of this adventure was to drink and paint (hence painting with a twist), we had to take our wine back out to the car… for the sake of teenagers.

Not only was I embarrassed that we had to take our drinks back outside, but also that I couldn’t blame the quality of my painting on my BAC. Read the fine print, folks.

Anyways– you would cry, too, if it happened to you.
