March R.E.P.O.R.T.

March was so yesterday. Taking with it; the final days of winter, the first quarter of the year, St. Patrick’s Day, and…. Easter? Busy month. Here’s the March R.E.P.O.R.T from me.

Reading

Hello Stranger by Katherine Center. I went to the library for a good plane read and left with Hello Stranger. I slept both ways on the flight so it didn’t quite serve its purpose, but it was a quick, light-hearted read. As someone who goes through phases with reading, I like to throw in easy reads from time to time to keep up with it.

Eating

Greek orzo salad. So fresh, so good. Orzo, kalamata olives, lemon balsamic, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, feta… can’t go wrong. Making this in bulk is the closest I’ve ever gotten to meal prepping.

In addition to that, I tried swordfish for the first time the other day and it was SO good. 10/10 recommend.

Playing

In my last R.E.P.O.R.T. I talked about how much I’ve been enjoying weekend and day trips. In March, I took a day trip to Dallas, then another to Hilton Head.

I was super excited to go to Hilton Head; I’ve been in South Carolina for over 3 years and finally made it happen over the weekend. Beaufort has been my favorite spot in SC since my first visit, so it’s no surprise that I loved Hilton Head almost as much. Some of these lowcountry towns are absolutely breathtaking. Hilton Head, however, is also super fun.

One of the best spots? The Salty Dog. Read about canine hero and Hilton Head legend, Jake, The Salty Dog. No, seriously – read it.

Obsession

Other than Jake, the Salty Dog?

Decluttering. I always like to keep my possessions to a minimum, but I’ve been tossing and selling things left and right in preparation to move. Facebook Marketplace has been one of the greatest things in both furnishing my apartment and emptying it. Seriously – where else could I sell a Christmas tree in March for $20?

Recommendation

Use what you already have. In regards to the moving, and wanting to cut down on my belongings; I’ve made it my mission to try to eat all the food in my fridge/freezer/pantry and use all the skincare, makeup, and hair products I have in my possession.

I’m not sure at which point I developed a weird scarcity complex, where I’ve always tried to save things for the right occasion (think fine china mindset), but this mission has really forced me to challenge that. I’ve also been forced to get really creative cooking with only the items in my kitchen. My hair days, however, have never been better.

I understand that most people don’t save nice things for the right occasion like I do, but I still recommend following suit and using everything you have. Life is short, use the nice things.

Treating

Walking away from people, places, and situations that no longer serve me. I’m sure you’ve heard “quitters never prosper” and “winners never quit”, but I’ve actually found that to be entirely untrue. The greatest gift I’ve given myself this year was quitting a job for no reason other than I hated how I felt there. I’ve found myself in a new role that has a much greater work/life balance and healthier environment, which is great; but most importantly I have a greater trust in myself for putting my needs first, and that outweighs all of those things.
